Free School Meals - Are you entitled?
Free school meals are an entitlement for any family who receives:
• Income Support (IS)
• Job Seekers' Allowance (Income-based)(JSAIB)
• Income Related Employment and Support Allowances (ESR-IR)
• Child Tax Credit (CTC) with an annual income of (as shown on your award letter from the Inland Revenue) no more than £16,190. People who receive Working Tax Credit cannot apply for Free School Meals.
Linked to "Free school meal" entitlement there are other entitlements, such as uniform grants for children when they reach Year 7. Therefore it is really important that all families who are entitled, even if they do not want to have school dinners, REGISTER FOR THIS ELIGIBILITY.
Since 1 September 2014, all Key Stage 1 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) pupils have been entitled to receive a free school meal as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) initiative, regardless of what benefits are being claimed.
However, if you are in receipt of the benefits listed above which would entitle your child to free school meals anyway, your school may be entitled to claim Pupil Premium funding to support your child’s education, just by you completing an application form.
If you think you may be entitled please ask Miss Hazzard for an application form or download one from the link below. More information can also be found at Cornwall Council.
