Eric Carle Class
In the Eric Carle Class we started the year by listening to one of Eric's most famous stories - The Very Hungry Caterpillar and have learnt the story really well. We tried all of the delicious fruits in the story. Working together we produced some wonderful art work to go on display including fingerprint caterpillars and a collage butterfly.
We have an exciting year ahead of us and have an exciting and engaging curriculum planned.
This term we have looked at different trees and identified trees from their leaves, sorting deciduous and evergreen leaves. We planted bean and talked about what they need to grow. We have talked about the different parts of a plant and have Drawn self portraits and started to look at Picassos art. In out outdoor space we have created our own obstacle courses and then drawn these.
Here are some of the exciting things that we have planned for this term:
- Make our own Picasso collages
- Draw and label different parts of the human body
- Learn about where we live and look at this on a map of the UK
- Look at the flags of the four countries that the United Kingdom is made up of
- A class trip to Truro Cathedral
PE days this term are a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure all items are named. PE kits will come home at the end of each half term for washing.
Our library day this term is a Tuesday. We really love reading and reading records are checked on a Tuesday and stickers and housepoints are given out to those who have shared a book at home. It could be a book from home! When we fill up our sticker card, we receive a prize and three cards means a tea party...so keep sharing books.
Read, Write Inc
We have been enjoying our daily Read, Write Inc sessions and have been learning a sound each day. Please send in your child’s RWI pack each day as we will be sending home our daily sound to practice at home.
