Welcome to Julia Donaldson class. We are a Year 2 class and our teacher is Miss Kirby. We also have Ms Selby in our class to help us with our learning.
This term we will be exploring and answering the question ‘How Powerful is Our Ocean?’ We will be looking at timelines and studying a significant person in history who helped to rescue people at sea. We will be learning about the RNLI and how important they are in our lives, especially living so close to the sea!
Some exciting things we have planned for this term are:
- Making clay models of boats
- Designing and making a working lighthouse
- Exploring life cycles
- Creating drawings using pastels and different materials
PE day this term is on a Thursday and Friday. Please make sure all PE kit is in school on these days and that all items are named.
We encourage the children to read every night at home. When children hand in their reading record signed, they receive a star for their chart. Children will receive prizes and attend tea parties with Mrs Wilkins as a reward for such super reading.
Read, Write, Inc
We have been enjoying our daily Read, Write Inc sessions and have been learning a sound each day. Please send in your child’s RWI pack each day as we will be sending home our daily sound to practice at home.
