9th March 2018
Peninsula Cross-country finals at Pool Academy
On Wednesday 7th March we had six children competing in the Peninsula finals after qualifying from the regional Camborne race earlier in the year. The children all braved the miserable weather conditions to complete a gruelling course: the year 4 children running an 800m course, the year 5 children running a 1200m course and the year 6 children running a 1600m course. Isla represented the year 4 girls and was in the first race to set off in the rain running a super race. In year 5 Aalayah, Kai and Jack all ran great races in a large field of competitors. Lily and George represented year 6 in another large field of runners and ran brilliantly. All of the children who ran were amazing and very competitive. A special mention must go to Aalayah who finished her race in 5th position qualifying for the Cornwall Cross Country Finals at Newquay next week. I must also mention Lily who ran brilliantly and finished in 16th position, 1 place outside of qualifying in the top 15, so unlucky. We wish Aalayah good luck next week in the finals, we know you can do it!
Extreme Reading Competition
A big well done to the following children who received a £5 book voucher in our Extreme Reading competition. Great photos Nursery - James, Year 3 - Lily, Year 4 - Lily & Rebecca, Year 6 -Oscar & Klevi. They will also be attending a special tea party with Mrs Lamb next week
Youth Speaks Area Final
Huge congratulations to Amber, Lily and Isla who attended the area final of Youth Speaks on Tuesday at Penwith College. Their presentation skills and team work was amazing. They were up against nine other teams and competition was stiff with all schools giving performances of a very high standard. It was a very close competition with Penponds and Alverton School eventually being chosen to go through to the district final. The girls did exceptionally well and we couldn't be prouder of them. Many thanks to the staff and parents there to support them.

Since the beginning of term children arriving late have lost 24 hours 5 minutes of learning time! This week’s lost learning is 9 hours & 14 minutes! It is very disruptive for classes and staff when they are constantly interrupted by late arrivals. It also causes a lot of extra work for Mrs Moulton with ordering school lunches for late arrivals.
If late you must sign your child in at the office and provide a reason for lateness.
Thank you to those parents who consistently bring children to school on time - you are ensuring that your children get the best possible start to their day and have the best chance at making great progress.
